Background checks for errrbody
Hi Friends,
I remember in the early days of my dating journey, I brought a man home after a date and, though we both survived the encounter, I remember thinking, “Sir, I could have robbed you or had someone waiting to harm you!” Funny, I didn’t think that I was the one in danger…probably because I’ve always had 50+ pounds (and double the thighs) on anyone I’ve ever dated…
Anyway, I learned to be smarter and safer with some basic common sense eventually. Here are some things I look out for.
Red Flags That Say “Get a Background Check ASAP”
He's Too Eager - If he's rushing to meet you or pushing for a relationship too soon, RUN. There’s something dark here. There may be some love bombing in your future…
He Won't Share Personal Information - If he's not willing to share basic personal information like his full name or where he works, why do you think that is? Honestly, think of the people you’re willing to grab coffee with. I bet you at the very least know their last name. If they’re hiding this, they don’t want you to do a background check. Get outta there!
He Only Communicates Online - If he's hesitant to meet in person or only communicates with you through text or email, I say he’s a scammer. We’ve all seen The Tinder Swindler and we’ve all listened to the podcast episodes. He’s not a celebrity who values privacy. He’s in a basement somewhere pumping women for financial info.
He's Inconsistent - If he's hot and cold, or his stories don't add up, it's a sign that he may be a shifty liar. That’s right, I said shifty.
He's Too Good to Be True - If he seems too perfect or too good to be true, he may be trying to manipulate you. I’ve been out with a guy who had the perfect job, his hair was perfectly placed, and and his smile just made me melt. But within just a few messages, he was trying to get me to talk on WhatsApp. This is a common scam :(
